When you get stuck in a creative project you can turn to Oblique Strategies. Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt originally conceived it as a deck of cards. Somebody gave me one of these decks a long time ago - don’t know where it is. Gaining new popularity it has now appeared many places online the best one is probably on MinimalDesigns Website - and if you are on Twitter you can get one Oblique Chirp sent to you every hour. The website version was used to make this blog post when I wasn’t sure if I was going to make a post about it or not, so then I clicked a few times and came to this card.

Patrik, I’ve long been a fan of oblique strategies, do you know Yann at minimal design?
Haven’t had the pleasure yet
this is great. hadn’t heard of it before. getting it on twitter seems pretty intense tho…
That’s so funny because I know him, he lives in Brooklyn, top web designer / developer.
Any man that has sought out the cryptic depths of Brian Eno gets my respect.
I spent years with a bunch of Eno CD’s on autoplay, especially Portraits from Sonora. There he calls the songs “sonic portraits” of the people he collaborated with on each piece. Love the explanation on the interview at the end where he explains how he came to focus on ambient music. He explains how he removed his own voice from the musical landscape so that one could enter more easily without the duality of performer and listener.
